As for racism and its impact on all people of color especially black Americans, as a teacher I took this issue on every year and made the facts ( that you add to) clear, whether the powers that be had a problem with it or not. 1619 was old news to me because I was teaching it from day one in 1977 in my classroom. The civil rights movement ( I should have capitalized) was indeed a black movement that was heroic and stood without the need of any white person to guard it. Truth is that it was an example of a superhuman race that was stripped of everything including language and nevertheless has climbed many mountains.
I am a 68 year old white guy ( Italian) who taught truth to kids every day.
In asked what did I teach.
My answer— INVISIBLE THINGS. Compassion. Courage. Love. Hate. Empathy and Sympathy. Tolerance. Kindness. Racism and ignorance.

You know. The things that matter.
Thanks for your support and thoughts
