Excellent essay. I might add one important criticism— why in the world would Osage women want to marry white men as it is depicted in the film? It boggles the mind. Why? It also plays into the entire trope of white superiority. And how could the Osage leadership trust William, played by DeNero? Or any white man when their fortune was on the line? Can you respond?
