First, the writer of this article does not use his rel name. Second, he is Aussie and that is where he is teaching. His magazine is something I have never heard of. All that breeds doubt to me. Second, I followed the path of sources and inevitably it leads to not really teaching CRT, but teaching ethinic studies (Sac. Bee). Sorry, to say that is not CRT. I should also add that that course is often an elective. One last thing, to teach that America has a 400 year history of sestemic racist policies, some that continue today (gerrymandering to dilute black voters impact on congressional representation for one example) is a far cry from a teacher supossedly professing that all white people are inherently racist and thus shaming white children. All students regardless of their ethnic background ought to know who were were so we avoid repeating atrocities. I think we agree on these historical facts. I should note I taught "Mockingbird" and the history of racism starting from 1619 to Jim Crow for 32 years. Never a complaint. I even wrote an essay on Medium about my experience. The nicest compliment came from a student who asked me after class if I was a D or and R --I smile bc he did not know. I had presented the information in a manner that never tipped my hand--unlike that teacher who you wrote of who 'failed' a student who admired Mr. Trump. Now that is an example of a teacher being utterly unprofessional and ignorant. If he / she were in my department, they would have some serious explaining to do to this chairman.
