First, you have to have something to say. To offer that they do not have on a machine. If you don’t have that then you need to leave the profession. Second, all phones go silent and all go into a row box. I never had to do that because of my first point. But if I were mentoring you, that’s what should be done. If a phone rang the kid was mortified. As for ear buds, see point 1. Hoods down. But you did what you think was best you could and I do applaud you. Your reality did not need be all teachers. Finally, what is missing in all your essay on why it’s not teaching is one word: RESPECT. They did not respect you. I’m not sure if you respected them enough to really get at why they blocked you out. Sorry you left on a sour note.
