I know I have been guilty of being either the ‘grammar guide’ or the ‘you-need-proof-professor, so I agree with your premise that comments should be constructive – I will improve. I do want to explain to writers ( as both a writer and teacher) that if your intent is to be taken seriously, then know the basics of grammar and style.
