I reread the essay and I agree with your distinction. I suppose I just didn’t focus enough on how you laid out the argument. It ‘seemed’ you were lumping BLM as populists. So I start corrected. As for confusing BLM and civil rights you are spot on! Where I find distance between us is the vitriol you have for progressive politics. ( Remember I am a centrist but one who knows that going back to ‘normal’ is not good enough. ) raising the minimum wage to $15 is an example of reasonable to me. A guarantee income- not. Medicare for all may be necessary especially with the impact of pandemics. The nuts and bolts need to be worked out ( income scaled perhaps) I don’t Look at AOC as a representative of Marxist socialism. So again, tempering your fury and watching out for generalizations would be my coaching advice. ;))
