I want you to know that 1. I’m an exception to the rule 2. I wrote two romances and 3. My agent an I ( as well as other reviewers ) do not agree on what a romance is.

To me a novel of literary quality that revolves around lovers with ‘broken pieces’ * that eventually fit together is not a romance, but does have a romantic denouement.

As compared to a bodice ripping, shirtless man gripping a damsel in distress draped in his arms … well, that’s a romance. *quoting Springsteen, who writes literature that is often romantic as he travels down “Thunder Road”…
