I’m not sure this was explained as well as you’d like. 1. Amendments to a bill is a good idea. 2. But what if those amendments nullified the intent? Example. Bill passes allowing abortion nationally, but amended to say that a state has power to override. Or that abortion can only occur before 6 weeks.

I guess it’s better than the status quo.
