Thank you. I agree with 90 % of this. I did discuss sex with my 11th graders in Catcher/Rye. That was the only time one student’s family requested I provide a different novel for her to read. I did.

I NEVER sent a student to ‘the office.’ Never wrote a referral. 32 years. Those were my kids. My issue. My responsibility. I also did not tell them my political party or how I voted. I never was a teacher during the tRump era.

I had freedom and used it to tell lids the truth. Warts and all. My debut novel ‘Meetings at the Metaphor Cafe’ tells my story through the eyes of four students. It has been adopted in several districts as curriculum. I be more than happy to send you a copy.
