Michelle Obama’s Documentary Is All about What America Is “Becoming”
Last evening we saw Michelle Obama’s stunning documentary: Becoming. Words cannot express my admiration and gratitude to her and that fella she married.
On a serious note, her expression of concern for the millions who “just didn’t care enough to vote” and that these people “just think its a game” made me both frustrated and disturbed.
For me, this lack of concern to be an active citizen (and at least exercise the right to vote) is attributed to a lack of concern for anything that does not specifically affect people. They just can be bothered with politics, and if it does not infrindge on their immediate needs, why bother voting or even reading a newspaper. I cannot count the number of people I know of all ages who blab about how much they can’t stand politics, or they don’t believe in government as a force for good.

Either that, or people have become so cynical and jaded that they simply do not believe their vote as their voice matters. Even when their vote may seem insignificant in the bigger picture, their knowledge about the facts is what really resonates to others: their children, family, friends…
