Oh, LInda! I do so feel for you...and the writing here is a dagger to your heart--I so get it. I have been self-pub for 11 years and five novels later I am still going...somewhat strong...somewhat. What helped me was 33 years as a master teacher with some 'street cred as the San Diego County 1998 Teacher of the Year and a few other awards, along with a solid ability to speak to audiences and make 'em laugh and cry. I know the hurt when people just don't buy the latest book. However, I try to remember that there are no shortcuts and (since I am not a celebrity and refuse to dole out $$ into the system to pay for reviews etc.--then I will be limited unless somewhere along the way a novel of mine falls into the hands of someone with a much large platform.
