Okay, I’m with you, Mr Rushoff, in terms of the Fox/Limbaugh/Hannity mindfuck. However, the previous points about the counter culture pranking and bullshitting was not the experience I felt. The TV shows were satires but they spoke to reality: bigotry, war; feminism. The hippies you speak of — to me anyway — were way way out there. The drugs ( and the addictions) were by far the greater harm. Again “I saw the needle and the damage done.” Sadly, this is a legacy of that movement.
