This is a stunning, powerful memoir. I am tossed back in time to when was the same age as you, in college, underemployed, with a girlfriend having capricious and devil-may-care- sex with a girl more experienced who used an IUD and hoped she wasn't pregnant. We had one scare. So I am with you 100%

Your Larry is heroic.

You imply that the marriage lasted 20 years because he passed away. I might be reading something wrongly--but that is the foreshadowing you present in the dramatic ending.

I want to add this--I have been with Medium for 5 years--this is the best personal story I have read--poignant. Gripping. You are a talented writer, Patsy--but I think you know that.
