Top 10 Issues Facing President Biden*
*Let me assume two important events occur: Biden wins and a transfer of power occurs peacefully (exit Trump stage way right…perhaps to another country that will not extradite him…Russia/ Saudi Arabia). If I do not assume these things, then there is no point in having any discourse about rational American goals. Actually, America will be under minority rule with a fascist leader and everything listed below will matter. (Part 2 of 2016 Priorities)
1. Climate Change / Global Warming : David Attenborough gives us 10 years (2030) before vast portions of Earth are no longer livable due to the temperature and lack of water. So that means the Paris Accords need to be back with a new twist — more stern requirements across the board.
2. American Division: Decency is on the ballot and that is Biden’s ace-in-the-hole. He needs to decrease the heat under a boiling kettle of anger and resentment. Not a simple task. Not something that changes in a year. Or a term. But necessary. Compromise and genuine concern for all Americans in red states and blue.
3. No Justice/ No Peace: Rethinking the police’s role in ‘keeping the peace’ and ‘to protect and serve.’ The ills of society, the institutional racism, must not just be acknowledged — it must be addressed. A Vice-President Harris seems a prefect fit.
