Two things: many 'private schools' (not Catholic--they have their own problems*) are inherently 'protective' which is a not so subtle way of saying: "I want to keep my kids with 'the right' type of kids. You know, not the ones that...well, you know what I mean." Racist--maybe not overtly, but simple feel that the public school nearby is inferior. Secondly, this statement implies that public schools are not holistic, arttistic and healthful--really? I taught at a public school that was all that and more. We embraced 28 languages at one time and had kids from white, blue and no collar families--and it wa fantastic.
